Nez Perce County Labor Market Information

Nez Perce County's population grew 4 percent from 37,375 in 1997 to 38,932 in 2007, while the U.S. population grew 11 percent and Idaho’s population grew 22 percent. Slow job growth reduced migration into the county, while an aging population reduced the birth rate. Nez Perce is closely tied to Asotin County, Washington. Many Asotin County residents, especially Clarkston residents, work in Lewiston. Asotin County's population grew at roughly the same rate as Nez Perce County’s, growing 3 percent from 20,499 to 21,111. The Nez Perce County seat , Lewiston, has a population of 31,800. The population of the other incorporated cities are: Lapwai, 1,120; Culdesac, 380; and Peck, 190.
