Payette County Labor Market Information
|
|
Payette County is Idaho’s smallest county in terms of area, but ranks 13th in population among the state’s 44 counties. The county’s population has been consistently rising over the past decade, growing from 19,792 in 1997 to 22,751 in 2007. This growth represents an increase of 15.0 percent down slightly from 1996 to 2006’s 15.7 percent and 1995 to 2005’s 15.4 percent. As the Treasure Valley population center of Ada and Canyon counties continues to move west, Payette County in turn continues to see an increasing share of retirees and commuters moving in as the cost of living is lower and a small town, rural lifestyle can still be enjoyed. Fruitland, Payette and New Plymouth are the county’s largest communities.
